World New Energy Vehicles Congress (WNEVC) 2019 was held in Boao, Hainan Province from July 1 to 3. President Xi Jinping has sent a congratulatory letter to the WNEVC 2019. With a new round of scientific and technological revolution and industrial transformation in the making and rising, the new energy vehicle industry is entering a new stage of accelerated development, which not only adds strong new drivers to the economic growth of various countries, but also helps reduce greenhouse gas emissions, cope with climate change and improve global ecological environment, Xi noted in the letter.
A number of central government leaders and leaders of Hainan Province attended the conference. More than 100 NEV enterprises and over 1,500 representatives shared successful stories, and explored trends and paths in electrification, intelligentisation, and on-demand service around the theme of “New Era·New Revolution·New Industry”.
As the world's largest new energy public transport operator, Shenzhen Bus Group was invited to participate in the conference. Mr. Joe MA, Deputy General Manager of the Group, shared the challenges and opportunities of electrification at the theme summit of “Technical Challenges & Innovations for Achieving M&HDV Zero Emission”.
He noted that energy shortage and climate change have made development of EVs as a focus. The biggest challenges are high costs, insufficient depot and charging facilities, technical issues such as stability of batteries and depreciation, etc.
While facing challenges, electrification has also ushered in unprecedented opportunities. Electrification has promoted standardisation and intelligentisation of depot planning and fleet size management, creating value chain businesses such as auxiliary parts, charging provision and EV maintenance.
